History

Our Hall was built in 1935 and has served the village of Holt and its surrounding areas for 90 years in 2025.

Here is some information from the opening:

Holt Church Hut was officially opened on Saturday, October 5th, 1935 by Sir Richard Glyn at 6.30 pm. About 40 people were present and the programme was started by the Rev J S Swann giving a short address. After the opening by Sir Richard a vote of thanks was proposed by Major Hanbury-Tracy (churchwarden) and seconded by Mr Rooth. A collection was taken afterwards towards the expenses which raised £5-10 -2. Afterwards and enjoyable social event took place with sword dancing by the choir boys.

Many local families contributed to the set up of the hall - R. James, Wrixon, Udell, Seevier, M. Budden and Loader, Holloway, Baker, Cornick. Osman, Savage, Webber, King.

Many locals have used and still continue to use and contribute to the hall. Thank you.

In the present century we have updated the building by insulating the roof, installing a new kitchen and building a ramp for disabled people to access the Hall. It has had new windows, a disabled toilet installed and repairs to keep the hall watertight for the future.

We would like to add outside space in the near future.

We are currently collecting photos & information about the history of the hall.
